Structuring can change the optical, mechanical, haptic or biological properties of the processed components. Typically, relatively small structural elements are inserted into a smooth and possibly polished surface. This creates a three-dimensional effect with simple lines that are superimposed over the CAD relief and follow the height profile it contains \u2013 using pure 2D laser processing. The advantage is very fast process times combined with particularly high surface quality. ACSYS uses Femtosecond lasers for this purpose. These allow a pulse duration of less than one picosecond.
